Varithena
What Is Varithena®?
Varithena® is a groundbreaking treatment for patients with varicose veins, offering an effective, non-surgical alternative to traditional methods. Varicose veins develop when the one-way valves in leg veins fail, causing blood to flow backward and pool in the veins, leading to bulging and discomfort. While treatments like Endovenous Ablation are effective for many cases, some situations require a different approach. For these scenarios, Siragusa Vein and Laser proudly offers an advanced prescription foam injection therapy to target and close diseased veins.
What to Expect from Foam-Based Vein Treatment?
This foam-based treatment effectively targets problematic veins without the need for incisions.
Ultrasound Guidance:
- Dr. Siragusa uses ultrasound imaging to pinpoint the veins requiring treatment.
Foam Injection:
- The foam solution is carefully injected into the diseased vein to collapse it and redirect blood flow to healthier veins..
- The foam causes the vein walls to swell and collapse, rerouting blood flow to nearby healthy veins.
Circulation Restored:
- The treated vein is gradually absorbed by the body, improving circulation and reducing the appearance of bulging veins.
- This minimally invasive procedure also alleviates symptoms like heaviness, swelling, itching, throbbing, and aching, making it more comfortable than traditional catheter-based techniques.
What To Expect After Treatment?
Compression Stockings:
- Worn for five days and removed at night before bed.
Activity:
- Light exercise can be resumed the day after treatment.
- Full activities, including strenuous exercise, can be resumed after 72 hours.
Post-Treatment Care:
- Mild bruising may occur and can be minimized with Dermaka™, applied twice daily. This product is available for purchase at our office.
