Dermal Fillers Treatment

Replenish Lost Volume.

Women and men in the Nashville area are increasingly seeing Dr. Siragusa for natural, subtle, beautiful results with dermal fillers. It’s important to realize that wrinkles themselves are invisible to the human eye. What you see is the shadow created by the uneven contours of the skin caused by the underlying wrinkle. The key to a youthful face is to minimize these shadows and to smooth transitions on the face which can be naturally achieved through the use of dermal fillers.

Dermal fillers plump and lift the skin gently to treat volume loss caused by your body’s natural aging process as well as treat wrinkles and fine lines. Most of today’s dermal fillers replace lost facial volume with proteins that naturally occur in the skin, and certain dermal fillers can even stimulate your body’s natural collagen production process to replace lost collagen over time for longer-lasting results.

As a board certified vascular surgeon, Dr. Siragusa is an expert in the anatomy of the face and uses advanced techniques based on years of experience and training. He may inject areas that are not typically injected by amateur or untrained injectors to achieve his patients aesthetic goals. Here are the areas he may address with fillers:

What it Treats

  • Lips and perioral lines (lipstick lines, upper lip lines, asymmetrical lips) – add volume to lips, hydrate lips, soften lines
  • Corners of mouth – reverse the downturn of the corners of the mouth seen with aging
  • Marionette lines – Soften the shadows below the corners of the mouth
  • Nasolabial folds – fill in smile lines
  • Cheeks/Midface – restore volume to the cheeks, lift the face, and emphasize the cheek bones
  • Jawline – sharpen the jawline and minimize the appearance of the jowls
  • Prejowl – treat the area of volume loss just in front of the jowl but to the side of the chin
  • Temples – treat the scalloped appearance of the upper face due to volume loss in this area
  • Under Eyes – improve dark circles caused by volume loss and prominent tear troughs
  • Frown lines – used in combination with Botox
  • Forehead lines – for deep lines on the forehead which Botox itself cannot completely treat
  • Neck lines – filler in “necklace lines” on the neck
  • Hollow tear troughs
  • Glabellar folds
  • Certain types of depressed scars

Treatment Time

  • 30-45 minutes

How do Dermal Fillers Work?

Dermal fillers use a natural substance called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in your body. Dermal fillers can be injected into the deeper layers of the skin to help lessen the appearance of wrinkles and increase lost volume. Dermal fillers also help to replicate the body’s own hyaluronic production to provide fullness in treated areas.

Some fillers also have naturally occurring components that help fill wrinkles but also stimulate your body’s natural collagen growth giving you long lasting results. Fillers that help with this include Sculptra® or Radiesse®,

Dermal Fillers Include -

  • Juvéderm®
  • Juvéderm® Voluma
    Radiesse®
    Restylane®
    Restylane ®Lyft
    Belotero®

  • Voluma®
  • Kysse®
  • Sculptra®
  • RHA® Collection

What to expect?

Before any Dermal Filler injections are administered, the skin is thoroughly cleansed and a topical numbing cream is applied to maximize comfort during the procedure. While you are numbing, we will look at specific areas of interest for treatment as well as take some measurements and discuss where and how much filler will be used to achieve optimal results.
After establishing what areas need treatment, a series of small injections will be used to administer the filler.

Recovery and Results

After filler treatments, patients can expect small spots of redness or swelling which will subside within a day or two. As with any injection, there is a potential for swelling, which can last for up to one week. An ice pack can be used to minimize any redness or swelling following treatment.

Results are visible immediately. Patients who receive dermal fillers see visible wrinkle reduction for six months to a year following their initial treatment.

Do Dermal Filler Injections Hurt?

Most of our clients find the injections very tolerable, especially with the help of numbing cream and the use of ice packs immediately after the injections.

How long will my results last?

Most clients' results last between 6 months and 2 years depending on the type of filler and area treated.

Is there a difference between dermal fillers and BOTOX® / Dysport®?

Dermal fillers are used to replace lost volume due to the aging process and help to remove deeper set wrinkles by plumbing the area around the injection. Botox and Dysport are used to treat wrinkles caused by muscle movement by limiting movement in the treated area.

What are the side effects of dermal Fillers?

Minor swelling may be seen in the treated area for 1-3 days with the possibility that arises in any injection of slight bruising which may last 1-6 days after treatment.
