How Does the MicroLaserPeel Work?
Using advanced erbium laser technology, the MicroLaserPeel safely and precisely removes the outer layer of the skin. What to expect?
Prior to your treatment, your provider will apply a topical numbing cream to your face to maximize your comfort, and also apply eye shields to protect your eyes during the procedure. The MicroLaserPeel device precisely removes the superficial layer of the skin by delivering very focussed laser energy to the upper layers. This kick-starts the process of new collagen production, which is responsible for the smoother, brighter appearance that develops over the next several days.
Results
Prior to starting your treatment, we will apply protective shields to your eyes and a thin layer of clear gel to your face. The technician will then pass the BBL device over the targeted areas. You may feel a brief warm sensation as the areas absorb the light. Depending on the scope of your treatment, the process will take anywhere from ten to thirty minutes.
Patients begin to notice results very quickly. Within a week of treatment, there will be a glow to the skin, and results will continue to improve over the next 6 months, especially when combined with deeper-reaching laser or light treatments. However, you may elect to repeat your MicroLaserPeel as often as every 6 to 8 weeks, depending on your unique needs and timeline.
PAIRED TREATMENTS - BROADBAND LIGHT (BBL)
Most of our patients chose to combine a MicroLaserPeel with either a BBL treatment or a Profractional treatment. The addition of a BBL dramatically reduces the appearance of brown and red skin pigments, while the Profractional treatment targets conditions that exist deeper in the skin, improving skin tightness and deeper lines. Recovery/Aftercare
No matter the intensity of your treatment, patients can expect mild redness and swelling similar to a sunburn sensation and tightness of skin. Compared to CO2 lasers, Sciton resurfacing technology is safer yet more effective, with much less downtime.
Depending on the depth of the MicroLaserPeel that you decide on, we advise 1-7 days of social downtime (a 10-micron peel usually heals in 1-2 days, while a 50-micron peel may take 5-7 days).
At the conclusion of your treatment, a gentle moisturizer will be applied to your entire face to protect and comfort the treated area. We will also recommend reapplying your moisturizer as often as needed to keep skin hydrated, which will promote more rapid results.
